Identity is one of the most important components of a person's personality, and it is a place where the self and I stand out against the other and identify one or differentiate one person over another. So the word identity is the answer to the question "who am I". Thus, identity is fluid and buoyant, and at the same time fluid, it also puts it at risk, which can lead to an identity crisis. Iraq is one of those countries with a unique history, civilization, culture and history, but the identity crisis is one of the concerns and concerns of this nation today, whose main factor depends on the decades of political and social conditions in Iraq. As a result, contemporary writers have suffered from this social dilemma in their community and have attempted to reflect this dilemma in their works to inform the people of their land. Ali Badr (b. 1986) is a contemporary author who has closely watched Iraq's troubled conditions and reflected the various individual and social dimensions of the identity crisis in his novel. In the novel, Nabil is the main character, for reasons such as cynicism, fear and violence prevalent in society, intimidation and aggression on the part of the people, the existence of seemingly religious groups. Our aim in this study is to examine the various aspects of the crisis in this Iraqi author's work by using social criticism and relying on sociological theory.
